Huffmaster
Scores Maiden MX-5 Win in Mosport Rain Race
Foss finsihs 2nd, maintains championship points lead
BOWMANVILLE, Ont. CANADA - Robert Huffmaster, of Clarkston,
Mich., put on a rain racing clinic at Mosport International Raceway
en route to his first SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup win.
Polesitter Eric Foss, of Fort Worth, Texas, finished second and Brett
Smrz, of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, completed the podium for Round Two
of the series, part of Victoria Day Speedfest.
Unlike
Round One at Road Atlanta, setup was not a guessing game for the MX-5
Cup field, as a steady rain had been falling across the 2.459-mile
circuit for nearly an hour and worsened as the cars made their way
to pre-grid. Huffmaster,
who had qualified fourth in the No. 27 Team MER/Huffmaster Co. MX-5,
picked up a position before the race even started when the No. 81
Team MER/Airco Mechanical MX-5 of Ryan Schimsk, from Austin, Texas,
was late to pre-grid, moving Huffmaster up to third as the field took
to the track. When the green flag waved, Huffmaster did his best to
make it through Turn One unscathed, but nearly ended his race early.
"I
was starting third, so I was on the inside, and I didn"t want
to be that guy that goes into Turn One and takes people out, so I
tried to back off early, but it was not enough, Huffmaster said.
I got all crossed up and starting sliding. I slid right off
the track and got about halfway through the gravel, but I didnt
want to get stuck there, so I got back in the throttle. I got back
to the edge of the gravel and back on the track, but by that point
almost the whole field was by.
Despite
having little rain racing experience to draw from, Huffmaster put
his head down and made a miraculous charge through the field, catching
then leader Foss on lap eight and pulling out an astonishing 33.316-second
lead by the time the checkered flag flew on lap 21.
After
Turn One I thought my goal was to get a top-10 and salvage some points
out of this, but as the laps when by I kept closing in on people and
passing people. I cant explain what happened really, it just
happened. Ive had one race in the rain and that was at the Runoffs
last year [where he won the SCCA Touring 3 Championship]. It rained
in the first half and dried out the second half. I still dont
like it, but Im happy with the results.
He
may not like it, but Huffmaster may have uncovered a hidden talent
in rain racing as he not only won the 51.639-mile race and led the
most laps, but also collected the Hawk Hot Lap for turning the fastest
lap of the race, a 2:01.771 (72.697 mph).
Despite
having a large lead early in the race, Foss was happy to watch his
teammate sail to victory, while collecting valuable points in the
No. 28 Team MER/Autobarn Mazda/Brooke Co. MX-5.
The
start was great, Foss said. There was a lot of mayhem
behind me and when I got to Turn Two I looked back and thought 'Wow,
Ive got a pretty good lead. After I settled in I paced
out a pretty good gap. I saw Rob coming and started asking how it
was panning out for third and fourth. At this point in the Championship,
I was really ready to settle for a second. I wasnt going to
challenge him. I dont know if I had anything for him to be honest,
but I wasnt going to try, because Id rather have second
than a DNF. The
track was getting worse as the race went on. There were some visibility
issues. I probably didnt prep my visor well enough. I was having
to wipe it inside and out on the straighaways, which made it a little
more challenging. The Team MER MX-5 felt great though and the Kumho
rain tires worked really well. It was a lot of fun actually.
Anders
Hainer nearly had a fourth-place finish in the bag, before a passing
attempt on the final lap resulted in a spin, dropping Hainer back
to seventh.

Foss
Snatches Second-Straight MX-5 Cup Pole for Mosport Race
Team MER drivers take 4 of the top 6 qualifying positions
BOWMANVILLE,
Ont. CANADA - Eric Foss, of Fort Worth, Texas, earned his second-straight
SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup pole in qualifying for Round
Two at Mosport International Raceway. Seventeen year-old Christian
Franck, of Simi Valley, Calif., will start second for this afternoon's
race, part of Victoria Day Speedfest.
After
laying low during Saturday"s practice sessions, Foss shattered
the MX-5 Cup qualifying record at Mosport in the No. 28 Team MER/Autobarn
Mazda/Brooke Co. MX-5. The current point leader entered a lap of 1:35.999
(92.213 mph) around the 10-turn, 2.459-mile Canadian circuit, more
than a second quicker than the previous qualifying record of 1:37.115
(91.153 mph), set by Russ Bond in 2006.
Foss
credited his qualifying breakthrough to his teammates hard work
in testing and practice. "My
teammates have really been helping me out this weekend, Foss
said. I had a bad miscue on the test day, which almost cost
me the whole day, but Team MER put the car back together and its
just awesome. Ive got to thank Ryan [Schimsk], Rob [Huffmaster],
Anders [Hainer] and all my teammates; they worked on the setup all
day Friday and we implemented it into my car. We tried a couple things
yesterday, then today we just worked together. Unfortunately, I couldnt
give Ryan the same lap he gave me with the nice tow down the back
straighaway. We have a couple more things we want to try for the race
and we dont know what the weathers going to be, so that
will make it interesting and entertaining for everyone Im sure.
The
Road Atlanta race winner knows teamwork will play a big role in the
race as well. The race is going to be a lot like Atlanta,
Foss added. Christian [Franck] and Brett [Smrz] have been working
well together all weekend and running really quick. We paired up in
teams of two in qualifying; Anders and Rob worked together well and
Ryan and I were working together, so well just try to continue
that. Thats the great thing about this series is the teammates
are building great relationships and it makes it a lot of fun.
It
appeared Foss would be flanked by the Alara cars of Smrz and Franck
on the grid, but after post-qualifying technical inspection the No.
6 Alara/Smrz Racing MX-5 of Smrz, from Coeur DAlene, Idaho,
was found to be underweight and placed at the back of the grid. Franck
was therefore moved to the outside pole in the No. 16 Alara Racing
MX-5, with a time of 1:36.386 (91.843 mph).
Foss
teammate Ryan Schimsk, of Austin, Texas, will start behind him on
the grid in the No. 81 Team MER/Airco Mechanical MX-5. Schimsk entered
a time of 1:36.586 (91.653 mph) to claim third on the grid. He will
have another MER teammate alongside of him in fourth. Rob Huffmaster,
of Clarkston, Mich., turned a 1:36.590 (91.649 mph) in the No. 27
Team MER/Huffmaster Co. MX-5 to qualify fourth. Anders Hainer, of
Woodland Hills, Calif., completes the top-five in the No. 13 Team
MER/Under Armour MX-5 after turning a 1:36.744 (91.503 mph).

Foss
Wins First MX-5 Cup Race of 2008 at Road Atlanta For Team MER
Team places 1st, 4th, 6th & 8th in opening round
BRASELTON, Ga. - Polesitter Eric Foss, of Fort Worth,
Texas, won the first SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup race of
2008, part of the Classic Motorsports Mitty at Road Atlanta. Hooverspeed
teammates Todd Buras, of Melbourne, Fla., and Brad Rampelberg, of
San Jose, Calif., completed the podium. Car
setup became a guessing game at Road Atlanta, after rain blanketed
the 12-turn, 2.54-mile road course during the lunch hour. The shower
ceased just as the group before the MX-5 Cup race took to the track
and the teams watched on as a dry racing line began to form.
After
the green, Schimsk, Foss, Buras and Rampelberg, settled into a tight,
but comfortable pack and broke away from the field. When Schimsk bobbled
on lap 15 of the 23-lap, 58.42-mile race, Foss seized the lead. Schmisk
held onto Foss bumper for several laps before falling back through
the field.
Just
as Foss began to pull a gap on second and third place, the full-course
caution came out for the No. 32 Hale Motorsports/Patron Tequila Mazda
MX-5 of Ian Ziering, which was in the tires at Turn Three. Without
enough time to clean up the corner, the race, which averaged 80.732
mph, ended under yellow. Following the pace car across the start-finish
line didnt take away any of Foss excitement for his first
MX-5 Cup win.
Im
elated, Foss said. Ive got to thank everyone: Team
MER, Autobarn and Brook Co. It was a great race. Ryan [Schimsk] is
an amazing teammate and we really worked well together. I was bummed
that he had a little miscue that set him back. In my mind he was the
guy to beat today. We
guessed on the setup like I think all the teams did, because we didnt
know what the conditions were going to be. We just happened to hit
on a decent setup, but I would say it was optimal. Everyone was fighting
the same issue. I got a little break toward the end with about three
laps before the yellow. Maybe my home track experience helped me out,
because I noticed I was able to pull on everyone in Turn One to Turn
Seven, and I was finally able to break the draft and get away progressively.
Following
a race-long battle, Anders Hainer beat out last years winner
Ara Malkhassian for sixth place. SCCA Touring Three National Champion
Robert Huffmaster, of Clarkston, Mich., finished eigth and earned
the Hawk Hot Lap for turning a new race lap record of 1:40.707 (90.798
mph) in the No. 27 Team MER/Huffmaster Co. Mazda MX-5.

TEAM
MER Announce Driver Line-Up For 2008 Mazda MX-5 Championship
A mix of veteran and rookie drivers fill Team MER's championship
winning roster
FORT
WORTH, TX (April 29, 2008) --- Team MER (Motorsport Enterprises Racing)
released today the complete driver line-up for the 2008 SCCA Playboy
Mazda MX-5 Cup Series. Team MER has swept the top two drivers positions
in each of the first two seasons of Mazda MX-5 Cup competition and
has a solid driver line-up hoping to continue that trend for this
year.
"We've very excited about the driver lineup we have assembled
for '08," said team owner, Shannon McMasters. "It's really
important to us to retain the crown we've held since the series started
and we feel our drivers will give us the very best chance of doing
just that. We've been working really hard at logistics and organizational
excellence to ensure that each of our drivers have an equal chance
at winning."
Leading the team will be Eric Foss, a long-time driving instructor
and lead instructor for MER's driving school program located at the
Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX. Foss competed in one MX-5 Cup event
at Road Atlanta and secured the pole and a podium position in the
race as well as several national spec miata wins to his credit.
Anders Hainer will also return after taking a year off of competition.
The 2006 Grand-Am GS champion has several wins and podiums to his
credit and was a front-runner in the Mazda MX5 Cup series in 2006.
A large group of returnees will rely on Team MER to assist them in
2008, including past Rolex 24-Hour winner, Forest Barber, Brad Adams,
Mark & Mike Jenkins, who both raced with the leaders in last year's
finale and Deborah Loth, who is also returning after a year off after
finishing in 4th place in the championship in 2006.
Though Team MER is full of veterans, the team returns with a crop
of very promising rookie drivers, Rob Huffmaster and Ryan Schimsk.
Huffmaster comes off a season where he claimed the SCCA T3 Championship
and an ITS ARRC win. Schimsk comes from a karting background and Spec
Racer Fords and testing has proven him as a very quick driver. Both
will be competing for the podium in their first outings.
Susan Krohn will also be joining the team for some of the 2008 events.
Team MER is currently negotiating with other drivers that may fill
seats in their rental program cars.
2007 Mazda MX-5 Cup Champ, Jason Saini, will return with Team MER
in a support role as his driving focus remains in the Speed Touring
series as a driver of a Mazda6 out of the Tri-Point stable.
"I'm looking forward to taking on a team role, helping coach
and instruct our great driver lineup," said Saini. "It will
be cool for me to finally get to watch one of these races, although
I'm sure after a few laps of watching I'll want to dive right in.
Mazda has created an amazing series, from the equal cars to the unbelievable
ladder system. I'm just happy to still be able to take part and help
with Team MERs title defense."
Team MER is hard at work preparing race-winning MX-5 Cup cars for
the 2008 season, with race seats still open for drivers interested
in select events or the remainder of the season. The team boasts an
experienced staff, public relations & marketing services, design
department, driver coaching and testing facility.

MER & Andrew Caddell Win At Miller; Caddell Secures Runner-Up
Position In Championship
Caddell takes pole and victory en-route to his 2nd win of season
TOOELE, UT (September 22, 2007) --- Team MER and driver,
Andrew Caddell, was awarded his 2nd victory of the season and the
runner-up spot in the 2007 Sirius Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship.
The driver logged the fastest lap in qualifying as well as taking
home the Hawk Hot Lap award. The win marked Team MER's seventh win
out of eight events for the year and solidified their second straight
team championship.
"It was a great weekend," said Caddell. "When you are
fighting for a spot in the championship, having a strong weekend is
an important thing. We had a great car and it really felt great to
help continue the success for Team MER, finishing 1st and 2nd in the
championship for the second year in a row."
Caddell started from pole but missed a shift early on, putting him
back in the fourth position before working his way back up to the
lead after teammate and 2007 Champion, Jason Saini, lost the lead
due to transmission issues. Saini would hang on to finish in the 5th
spot.
"I got a great start, and was able to pull out a decent lead
until the caution came out," said Saini (TheAutoBarn.com / Team
MER). "On the restart, I missed a shift and jammed the shifter
into 4th gear, where it unfortunately stayed for the rest of the race.
I've got to thank the whole MER crew, they did an outstanding job
again - the car was awesome, nobody had anything for Andrew or I all
weekend long. The season could have ended on a better note, but it
was still a win for the team and a dominating performance."
Rick Bellew (B&W Supply / Team MER) put in a tremendous drive
after struggling in qualifying, advancing 21-positions to finish in
the 9th spot, just ahead of Patrick Dempsey (Autism Speaks / Team
MER) who logged his first top-10 finish of the season.
"At one point, we had five drivers in the top-6 positions,"
said Marc Miller, Team MER driver coach and engineer. "That says
a lot of everyone involved in this organization, from drivers, crew
and our sponsors. Everyone in our paddock just lives and breathes
racing and that is definitely refreshing."

Mike
Jenkins (Traxxas / Jentek / Team MER Mazda) ran as high as third,
but several incidents moved him back down the order and he would finish
in the 13th position. Rick Skelton (Team MER) put in a solid run to
finish 20th in the 30-car field in his first MX-5 Cup event of the
year and Brad Adams (Team MER) finished in the 22nd spot. Mark Jenkins
(Traxxas / Jentek / Team MER Mazda) was poised to have a strong race,
starting in the 5th position but was forced to pit with a flat tire
due to an on-track incident.
Frankie Muniz, making his first appearance in the series after a full
season of Champ Car Atlantic this season, put in a stellar drive,
running in 3rd with only two laps remaining. Muniz continually improved
in each session, qualifying in the 6th position. The former "Malcolm
in the middle" star made a move for the second spot and both
Team MER is already working on plans for the 2008 championship season.

Grey's
Anatomy Star Patrick Dempsey Takes 11th Place For Autism Awareness
In Trois Rivieres
Dempsey competed in Mazda MX-5 Cup championship event driving the
Autism Speaks #29 during the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres
(TROIS RIVIERES, QC - August 22, 2007) Patrick Dempsey got behind
the wheel of the Autism Speaks #29 Mazda MX-5 racecar at this weekend's
Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières and drove his way to 11th place
out of 29-cars. This was his first appearance in the Mazda MX-5 Cup
championship series this year and he was proud to represent autism
awareness. The star of ABC's hit show, Grey's Anatomy, recognizes
the important role Autism Speaks plays in the lives of families affected
by autism spectrum disorder.
"We're seeing more cases of Autism being diagnosed and we don't
know where it's coming from or why it's happening, mostly in boys,"
Dempsey said. "I have two young sons and it's certainly a concern
of mine. I think for anyone who's a parent and anyone who has to go
through this, it's a difficult thing, but there's a lot of help out
there. The big thing is to be aware and watch if you have a newborn.
Talk to your doctor to educate yourself about it. That's why it's
great to be a part of Autism Speaks."
Dempsey, an avid racing fan and driver, has been busy working on a
new movie and could not compete in the series until this past weekend.
He qualified the Autism Speaks Mazda MX-5 in the 16th position and
worked his way up to 11th by the end of the race.
The owner of the car, professional race driver and driver coach, Marc
Miller, and his family have been personally touched by Autism. His
son, Evan, was recently diagnosed with the disorder. The Holland,
MI native approached Autism Speaks prior to the first race of the
season to offer up whatever support he could and the "puzzle
piece" logo has been prominently displayed in each race since.
"Before Evan was diagnosed, I had very little clue as to what
autism was," said Miller. "I wanted an outlet so that my
family could share with others what we have learned over the past
couple of years. I am very thankful to AutismSpeaks.org for working
with me to help spread awareness of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
It has been a very meaningful project for my entire family. I hope
to continue to be an advocate throughout my racing career."

Dempsey
will be back behind the wheel for the final round of the Mazda MX-5
Cup championship on September 14-15 at Miller Motorsports Park in
Salt Lake City, UT.
"Patrick
has been incredibly supportive and very gracious in lending his support
to Autism awareness," continued Miller. "He is also quite
a good race driver with a lot of passion and focus. I am looking forward
to working with him again at the next race and hopefully have an even
stronger finish for the Autism Speaks MX-5."
ABOUT
AUTISM
Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person's ability
to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied
by extreme behavioral challenges. Autism spectrum disorders are diagnosed
in one in 150 children, affecting four times as many boys as girls.
The diagnosis of autism has increased tenfold in the last decade.
There is no known cause or cure for autism. In Canada, supports and

MER Enjoys Dominating Weekend at GP of Trois Rivieres, Saini Secures
Championship
Saini sweeps weekend with Team MER drivers taking 6 of top-11 positions
TROIS RIVIERES, QC (August 22, 2007) --- Team MER and driver, Jason
Saini, turned in another dominating performance this weekend at the
Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres, taking pole position and the race win
and ultimately claiming the 2007 Sirius Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5
Cup Championship. The event was a clean sweep for Saini & Team
MER. In addition to qualifying on pole and leading every lap, he reset
the MX-5 Cup lap record, entering a fast time of 1:16.170 (71.886
mph) around the 11-turn, 1.521-mile temporary street circuit and taking
home the Hawk Hot Lap award. This was the team's fifth consecutive
victory and Saini's fifth win of the season.
"I have to thank Team MER and the whole crew for putting together
an awesome car," said Saini (TheAutoBarn.com / Team MER). "We
tweaked it every session and got a little faster every session. Half
the time you make changes you go backwards, but every one of ours
made the car better and it was even better yet for the race. This
season has been pretty indescribable. We have all worked very hard
and I've had a ton of support from so many people. I can't even put
into words what it feels like to get a professional championship."

Besides
the strong performance by Saini, Team MER logged another podium finish
with the 3rd place of Andrew Caddell, who is currently second in the
points championship. Caddell had a five-way battle for third the entire
race and made it stick before the final caution period.
"Overall it was a good run," said Caddell (Pinnacle Mazda
/ Team MER / AIM). "Our car was set-up better for the short runs
and once we had that long stretch I got dicing with a big pack of
cars. Thankfully we had that second yellow and I was able to get a
good restart. It would have been nice to see what I had for the 2nd
place car at the end but we ended under yellow."
In addition to the podium finishes, Team MER had a total of six cars
in the top-11.
"I couldn't be prouder of every single one of the crew members
we have associated with this team," said Marc Miller, Team MER
driver coach and engineer. "To have so many cars running in the
front half of the grid says a lot of the hard work of the crew and
the great job the drivers did on track. This weekend was certainly
a special one."
Mark and Mike Jenkins both had tremendous drives to place in the 6th
and 8th positions driving their Traxxis / Jentek / Team MER Mazda
MX-5's. Forest Barber (Feed the Need / Team MER) logged his first
top-10 finish of the year with a 10th place result. He moved seven
spots up from his starting position and finished right in front of
Patrick Dempsey (Autism Speaks / Team MER) who had a strong race to
finish 11th in his first MX-5 Cup event of the year. Donnie Barnes
(Team MER) finished in the 20th position after a spin that pushed
him to the back of the field. Rick Bellew (B&W Supply / Team MER)
had a great run going, briefly running as high as tenth before slight
contact with the wall hampered his day, finishing in the 23rd position.
Team MER will next head to Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City,
UT for the final round of the SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda MX-5 Cup
September 14-15.
Team MER drivers point standings: Saini (*1st - 218 pts), Caddell
(2nd - 168), Bellew (15th - 65), Barber (21st - 46 pts), Foss (24th
- 28 pts), Mark Jenkins (22nd - 42 pts), Smrz (21st - 35 pts), Mike

Miller has kept AutismSpeaks.org as primary sponsor on the car at
a number of events throughout the season including the Grand Prix

in June.

A

Autism
Speaks Canada has been very supportive of the arrival of the Autism
Speaks Mazda MX-5 race car to the event in Trois Rivieres.
"At Autism Speaks Canada, we are thrilled to have Marc and his
team come across the border to help us raise awareness about autism
in Canada, which is now impacting 1 in 150 children," said Suzanne
Lanthier, Executive Director of Autism Speaks in Canada. "Having
Patrick Dempsey behind the wheel is a special bonus as we know all
eyes will be on him and the car with the Autism Speaks puzzle piece
logo. We have a lot of work do to in order to raise the profile of
his disorder in Canada and the lack of supports and services to families
and their loved ones impacted by ASD's. Having Marc and Patrick behind
us is a great way to bring attention to the issue in Quebec and across
Canada."

event and their fifth of the season, thanks to a two-race sweep by
Jason Saini at the Cleveland Grand Prix double-header this past weekend.
Saini took his first career pole and his third and fourth wins of
the season over the weekend that saw no less than 20 lead changes.
The Cleveland area native increased his points lead to a whopping
42-points over teammate, Andrew Caddell, who moved up into second-place
with the help of a pole and two podium finishes.
"This weekend has got to be the highlight of my career,"
said Saini (TheAutoBarn.com / Team MER). "This is where I grew
up and ultimately got interested in racing, so doing so well here
means a lot. Team MER has done an incredible job this season and we
only seem to be getting better at this point."
Team
MER teammate, Andrew Caddell, fresh off his first career victory at
Portland two weeks ago was in the hunt for the win in both races,
leading both races and started on the pole position in race #1. The
19-year-old driver finished 3rd in race #1 and 2nd for race #2.
"I had to overcome adversity in both races," said Caddell
(Pinnacle Mazda / Team MER / AIM). "In race one I picked up some
debris on my tires and thought my race was done, but the crew told
me to relax and stay focused and the car came back to me. I was able
to run down the pack again after that. For race two I got pushed really
wide on the start and lost a bunch of spots. Again the crew helped
keep me focused and I had a great battle for the win with Jason. We
both made last lap mistakes, mine just cost me the win. These races
should make for great television though!"
Rick Bellew (B&W Supply / Team MER) did a great job of working
his way up into the top-6 in Friday's race and eventually ended up
with a 9th place result. His luck Saturday wasn't as good and he was
forced to retire with seven laps remaining. He finished in 24th.
Two new cars were added to the Team MER stable with sponsorship from
Traxxas Radio Controlled Cars and Jentek. Mike and Mark Jenkins moved
up from the Spec Miata class to enter the series as rookies and improved
the entire weekend.
Mark Jenkins had a 18th place finish on Friday, but on Saturday ran
as high as 6th place early on and finished in the 13th spot. Mike
was consistent and improved from his 23rd place result on Friday to
finish 16th on Saturday.
"We have really come together as a team," said Marc Miller,
who acted as team engineer for the event. "Everyone involved
in the team this weekend provided something vital and necessary and
accomplished their tasks without a hitch. We are proud to welcome
some new drivers to the team and look forward to the return of our
teammates that couldn't make it to Cleveland."
Team MER will campaign cars in the next SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda
MX-5 Cup event at the G.P. of Trois Rivieres in Quebec, Canada on
August 18-19. This will be the series second visit to the street event.
Team MER drivers point standings: Saini (1st - 184 pts), Caddell (2nd
- 142), Bellew (13th - 62), Smrz (21st - 35 pts), Barber (22nd - 30

Team MER Takes Two In A Row; Caddell
Bags First Pro Win
Saini strengthens points lead and Caddell wins home race
PORTLAND, OR (June 12, 2007) --- Team MER took home
their third win in four events this season's Sirius Satellite Radio
Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship with a win from Andrew Caddell, of Graham,
Wash., the first pro win of his career. Caddell led the most laps
and stretched to a six-second lead by the checker at Portland International
Raceway this past weekend. Teammate and championship points leader,
Jason Saini, lead several laps, but a mid-race spin while fighting
for 2nd place dropped the driver back. He would work his way back
to the 5th position and a battle for the podium by race end.
"This is great to have this result at what is effectively my
home track," said Caddell (Pinnacle Mazda / Team MER / AIM).
"Jason and I battled back and forth early on and the racier the
other guys got, the more I was able to get away. "
Saini (TheAutobarn.com / Team MER) benefited from laps lead and a
solid 5th place result to maintain a 30-point lead in the championship.
"That race was crazy," said Saini. "Everyone was going
for it and I have to be satisfied with the results. We maintained
our points lead but still need to go to Cleveland with the same focus
and determination that keeps all our team cars at the front of the
pack."

Patrick
Barrett showed a lot of poise as the 17-year-old qualified 5th in
the wet session and ran in the 4th position for much of the race before
making contact with the third place car. Barrett recovered from a
spin in the festival curves late in the race and worked his Alpinestars
/ AutismSpeaks / Team MER MX-5 up to the 9th position at the finish,
logging the third fastest lap in the process.
Rick Bellew (B&W Supply / Team MER) had worked his way up from
his 10th starting position and was battling in the top-10. Unfortunately
the driver lost third gear mid-way through the race and limped home
to an 18th place finish.
Donnie Barnes (Team MER) battled with several drivers the entire race
and finished in the 20th position in his second career MX-5 Cup event.
After consistently logging top 15 times in practice, Forest Barber
(Team MER / Feeds the Need Racing) had similar luck, having transmission
trouble early on after running 15th, moving up five positions from
his starting position. He would end up in the 27th position.
"We had mixed results today," said Shannon McMasters, Team
MER owner. "On one hand, it is always good to have cars win and
be upfront. At one time we had cars in 1st, 2nd and 4th, which is
a great accomplishment. We all think the set-ups on the cars were
good, but we had some mechanical failures that should have been top-10
finishes. We will work hard to prepare for Cleveland and hopefully
have all of our drivers battling in the top half of the grid."
Team MER will campaign cars in the next SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda
MX-5 Cup event at Burke Lakefront Airport during the Cleveland Grand
Prix on June 23-24 as a support series for the Champ Car World Series.
Team MER drivers point standings: Saini (1st - 119 pts), Caddell (4th
- 85), Bellew (13th - 43), Smrz (17th - 35 pts), Barber (19th - 30
pts) Foss (20th - 28 pts), Barrett (26th - 18 pts), Barnes (31st -
11 pts)

the most of their cars and themselves over a two-day session
FORT WORTH, TX (May 11, 2007) --- Motorsport Enterprises
Racing is proud to announce the addition of their SpecMiata Advanced
Speed Clinic to their racing school curriculum, effective immediately.
The two-day program will focus on driver development, car development,
data analysis and set-up knowledge to get the most out of both driver
and their Mazda-powered SpecMiata and IT, SSB, MX-5 Cup or T3 racecars.
This is currently the most advanced course offered by MER.
"This is a great opportunity for racers to learn what we do at
the professional level and how they can be better prepared on and
off the track," said Eric Foss, Lead Instructor for MER's Racing
Schools. "By the end of the clinic, participants will have a
much better understanding of themselves as drivers and even more understanding
on how they can learn their car's capabilities."
The clinic will be over the course of a two-day period, with the first
day consisting of a complete technical inspection and track familiarization
followed by a vehicle dynamics class. Exercises will be utilized to
further a drivers car control skills. Attendees will work with instructors
throughout the day and your techniques and cornering will be observed
with a complete data acquisition analysis at the end of the day.
The second day starts with an overview of chassis dynamics assessed
specifically for your car. MER instructors will work with participants
in developing set-ups that will enable consistently faster laps in
their own car than ever before. High-speed lead-and-follows with instructors
and open hot lapping with individual driver/car critiques and data
acquisition analysis will be used. The day ends with a 30-minute fun
race to help practice racecraft and skills needed for competition.

Saini
Continues With Points Lead, Team MER Entries Finish 2nd, 3rd &
4th At "The Mitty"
Team MER dominates qualifying with Foss, Saini &
Caddell taking top 3 spots
BRASELTON, GA (May 1, 2007) --- Team MER continued their strong championship
run with another successful race weekend as three drivers took 2nd
through 4th place at "The Mitty" Grand Prix this past weekend
at Road Atlanta. Team drivers Jason Saini, Eric Foss and Andrew Caddell
started the weekend off by qualifying in the first three positions,
with Foss, an instructor at Road Atlanta's Panoz School, taking pole
with a lap of 1:41.461 followed by Saini and Caddell.
"I have plenty of laps here," said Foss. "The car felt
very good. Team MER has done a great job and I'm really happy with
where we are going. I would have been satisfied with a Top-5, so setting
fast time is just amazing."
In the race, both Foss and Saini took turns leading for nearly the
entire race until the last lap where the two battled for the victory
allowing the third place car of Ara Malkhassian to slip by with two
corners for the win. Saini (Team MER / TheAutobarn.com), the winner
last week, picked up another bonus point for leading the most laps
and finished second followed by teammate, Foss for third. Another
Team MER driver, rookie Andrew Caddell finished in fourth.
"For a moment there Eric and Ara started to battle and I was
able to pull away," said Saini. "They were able to close
back up when they started to work together and I was unable to hold
them off. It was a very close race and congratulations to Ara for
a good run. He didn't make any mistakes and that is what it takes
to win in this series. This series is just amazing and special thanks
again to Team MER for another great weekend."
Caddell (Pinnacle Mazda / Team MER / AIM) crossed the line leading
a five-car pack in brilliant fashion drifting sideways to finish fourth.
Forest Barber (Team MER / Feeds the Need Racing) completed another
solid finish in 15th followed by Houston pole-sitter Brett Smrz (AutismSpeaks.org
/ Team MER) in 18th and Rick Bellew (B&W Supply / Team MER) in
19th.
Team MER is already preparing for the next SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda
MX-5 Cup event on May 19-20 at MAZDA Laguna Seca Raceway for the 2007
US Sports Car Invitational.

Saini
Leads Way In Houston With Opening Round Win For Team MER, Smrz Takes
Pole & Third
Team MER has dominant performance with two cars on podium during
the opening round of the SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship
HOUSTON, TX (April 23, 2007) --- Team MER made a huge step in defending
their driver and team championship from last season. Jason Saini (Team
MER / TheAutobarn.com) led every lap en-route to his first win of
the 2007 SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda MX-5 Cup season. In addition,
16-year-old, Brett Smrz (Team MER / AutismSpeaks.org) logged the fastest
lap in qualifying to start from pole and had a race-long battle for
2nd place before finishing on the final spot on the podium in his
professional car-racing debut.
"What a great feeling this is," said Saini. "Our entire
team has put in a tremendous amount of effort and to be rewarded with
a win is just fantastic. Everyone on the team is deserving of credit
for this weekend's accomplishments, especially our car chief, Juliann
Pokorny, and Eric Foss for helping to engineer the cars. The reason
why we have so many good front-running cars is a large part due to
their efforts."
Joining Saini on the podium was Brett Smrz, who started the race from
pole before slipping back all the way to fourth early on. Smrz worked
his way back up to an epic battle for second before impressively finishing
the race in the 3rd position in his pro racing debut.
"Team MER has a great testing program and that really helped
me this weekend," said Smrz. "I have learned a lot with
help from both Jason and my driver coach, Marc Miller. I don't think
I could have been any more prepared for the first event but was still
shocked when Marc came on over the radio and told me I was P1 in qualifying.
I want to thank the entire team and Autism Speaks for making my first
pro weekend a memorable one."
At one point in the race, Team MER cars occupied the first three positions
with Saini, rookie Andrew Caddell and Smrz showcasing the team's car
preparation skills. Caddell began to run down the leader and in the
process clocked the fastest lap of the race to take home the Hawk
Hot Lap award. Only a few laps later he would be forced to retire
from the race after contact with the wall and gearbox issues.
"We had a very good weekend, there is no doubt about that,"
said Shannon McMasters. "On the weekend, the team took home the
pole, the win and fastest lap awards spread over three different drivers
on the team. We have several new drivers in these cars on the team
and they all performed like veterans. This was certainly a team effort."
Rick Bellew drove his Team MER / B&W Supply machine from the back
of the pack after early contact all the way up to 8th place by the
checkered flag. Following him through the pack was Forest Barber (Team
MER / Feed the Need Racing), who had put in a stellar display from
his 25th starting position to get in the top-15 before being forced
wide and losing several spots. He would bounce back to 15th place
by the end of the race, making up ten positions, tied for the most
by any driver.
Team MER is already preparing for the next SCCA Sirius Satellite Mazda
MX-5 Cup event, the "2007 MITTY Grand Prix", this coming
weekend at Road Atlanta.

FORT WORTH, TX (April 16, 2007) --- Team MER (Motorsport

round of the Sirius Satellite Mazda MX-5 Cup Championship this weekend.
The 2006 championship winning team will enter five cars for the Houston
Grand Prix including '06 series runner-up, Jason Saini. Joining Saini
will be several new drivers to the team including former Daytona 24-Hour

"The team has been working around the clock preparing cars for
this event," said Team MER principal, Shannon McMasters. "We
easily have one of the hardest working teams out there and we hope
all the hard work pays off at the first race in Houston."
Though the 2006 season saw Team MER score several victories, the driver's

honors by following it up with the runner-up position with Saini and
tied for 4th in the championship hunt with Deborah Loth, the team
knows hard work is needed to maintain that level of success.
"We have already been testing and things seem to be going well
with the new cars," said Marc Miller, driver coach and team rep

Andrew Caddell Signs with Team MER for
2007 Mazda MX-5 Cup Season
2006 Spec Miata Champion & MAZDASPEED "Shootout"
winner to campaign season with support from Championship Winning Team
FORT WORTH, TX (March 6, 2007) --- Team MER (Motorsport
Enterprises Racing) is happy to announce the signing of Andrew Caddell
to the team for the 2007 season. Caddell, from Graham, WA was victorious
in the 2006 SCCA National RunOffs in the Spec Miata class and recently
was the recipient of a new 2007 Mazda MX-5 to campaign in the pro
championship for 2007.
"It has been like a dream for the past 6 months," said Caddell,
18. "First winning the SCCA Spec Miata Championship and then
being selected by Mazdaspeed to be awarded the 2007 Mazda MX-5 Cup
race car was great. Now we have partnered with the best team from
2006, this will ensure that we have our best shot at doing well at
every race!"
Caddell got his shot at competing in the 2007 MX-5 Cup series thanks
to a special "shootout" that was open to anyone who won
a National Championship at the 2006 SCCA Runoffs in a Mazda powered
car. Four drivers were invited to submit proposals to Mazda and compete
in several days of on and off-track competitions. The winner would
be given the keys to a new Mazda MX-5 to compete in the 2007 MX-5
Cup series. In addition to the car, Mazda is providing several accessories
such as complete racing suspension, cold air intake, exhaust header
and system, and a very large box of MAZDASPEED parts to turn the street
car into a racecar. SCCA Pro Racing offered to comp the entry fees
for the entire 2007 season and Hankook offered a set of tires for
each of the eight races, bringing the total value of the prize to
well over $50,000.
Caddell was awarded the top prize but the missing ingredient was a
team that could assist him in making the transition from amateur road
racing to professional motorsports. The 2007 SCCA Mazda MX-5 Cup Series
champion was on top of the list. Team MER scored several victories
in 2006 as well as taking home the driver's championship with driver,
Jim Daniels. Team MER easily scored a team championship by following
it up with the runner-up position with Jason Saini and tied for 4th
in the championship hunt with Deborah Loth.
"We are excited to have Andrew on board this year," said
Shannon McMasters, majority owner of MER. "He has proven to be
not only a fast driver, but also possesses many of the other attributes
we look for to be a part of our team. Andrew will be in good company
as our team is made up of other exceptional drivers like Saini, Loth,
Anders Hainer and Forest Barber. We will also have a few other drivers
running out of our stable on a limited basis that will certainly bring
in solid results."
"Partnering with the reigning championship winning team will
help me work towards the goal of winning races and the Mazda MX-5
Cup Championship." added Caddell.
Team MER is hard at work preparing race-winning MX-5 Cup cars for
the 2007 season, with race seats still open for drivers interested
in select events or the entire season. The team boasts an experienced
staff, public relations & marketing services, design department,
driver coaching and testing facility as well as a new transporter
for the 2007 season.

the 2007 season, contact Jason Saini or Marc Miller at Motorsport

MER Announce Driver Line-Up For 2007 Mazda MX-5 Championship
Several high-profile drivers join the TEAM MER roster for 2007
championship chase
FORT
WORTH, TX (January 22, 2007) --- Team MER (Motorsport Enterprises
Racing) released today the tentative driver line-up for the 2007 SCCA
Sirius Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup Series presented by Hankook.
During the 2006 season, the team scored several victories as well
as taking home the driver's championship with driver, Jim Daniels.
Team MER easily scored a team championship by following it up with
the runner-up position with Jason Saini and tied for 4th in the championship
hunt with Deborah Loth. For the 2007 championship season, Team MER
returns both Saini and Loth to the squad, but also add veteran racer,
Forest Barber and 2006 Grand Am Cup GS Champion, Anders Hainer.
"It is great to have both Jason and Deborah back for 2007,"
said Shannon McMasters, majority owner of MER. "We are pretty
proud to have both Anders and Forest in seats for this season as well.
Anders is a proven winner and champion in Grand-Am competition and
Forest has as much experience and success as anyone in the paddock
in endurance racing. To have both a Grand-Am Champion and a Rolex
24-Hours winner joining the team is very exciting."
Saini will return after winning the final event at Road American in
2006 and catapulting to the runner-up spot in the final standings
and building great momentum heading into the 2007 season. The driver
works full-time with the MER operation at their shop at Motorsport
Ranch near Fort Worth, TX and is looking forward to another strong
season ahead.
"Last year was fantastic for such a young team," said Saini.
"We assembled all the right people needed to come out a winner
and due to their expertise and effort, the results were there. Our
team is hard at work to begin testing soon and give all of our drivers
and customers everything they need to go for race wins and another
team championship in 2007. I am looking forward to working with Deborah
again as well as welcome both Anders and Forest to the team."
After making the transition from winning SCCA Divisional Championships
aboard a Dodge Viper, Loth easily showed the most improvement throughout
the 2006 season, logging several top 10 finishes late in the season
with a best finish of 4th at Road America that helped award her the
"2006 Season Hard Charger Award" at the year-end banquet.
Loth, a Fort Worth, TX native, took home a tie for 4th place in the
championship standings thanks to her consistency with five of eight
events finishing in the top-10.
Barber, also a Fort Worth native, has a stacked resume in prototype
and endurance racing. He co-drove with Terry Borcheller during the
inaugural Rolex Daytona Prototype season in 2003, taking the owner's
championship and helping Borcheller to the individual driver's championship.
He and Borcheller teamed up to take 2nd in the Grand Am Cup Series
championship as well the same year. Barber then won the 2004 Rolex
24 Hours as a co-driver with Borcheller, Andy Pilgrim and Christian
Fittipaldi and ran selected events in 2005 and 2006.
"Having driven primarily in endurance racing where 'first finishing'
is the primary goal, switching to being focused on 'finishing first'
will be a welcomed challenge," said Barber. "When choosing
a team to work with, Team MER's expertise in putting together a championship
effort was paramount as evidenced by their extraordinary success in
the '06 Championship."
Hainer spent most of the 2006 season focused on winning the Grand-Am
Cup Grand Sport championship for Turner Racing in only his second
year in Grand Am competition. Hainer ran only a handful of MX-5 Cup
events in 2006 as well, with podium finishes at both the Grand Prix
of Trois-Rivieres and Miller Motorsport Park. Hainer may not compete
in the entire championship in 2007 due to scheduling conflicts, but
will likely compete for race wins in each event he enters.
"I am looking forward to working with all the drivers this season,"
said driver coach and team rep, Marc Miller. "We have a great
roster of drivers that each bring a lot to the table to help one another.
With the experience everyone has here, this would be the perfect environment
to learn and get up to speed quickly."
Team MER is hard at work preparing race-winning MX-5 Cup cars for
the 2007 season, with race seats still open for drivers interested
in select events or the entire season. The team boasts an experienced
staff, public relations & marketing services, design department,
driver coaching and testing facility as well as a new transporter
for the 2007 season.

that will be utilized by the championship winning SCCA Mazda MX-5

new logo designs have been created to reflect the momentum created
in the company's first year of operation.
"Even after only one year, MER is already an established name.
But not many know all of the things the operation does," said

Motorsport
Enterprises Racing, Team MER Add Business Partner
Top level Mazda race team and growing motorsports business bring
on additional manpower for expansion
FORT
WORTH, TX (January 3, 2007) --- Motorsport Enterprises Racing (MER)
have announced today the addition of a new partnership to the growing
organization. Marc Miller will partner with team principals of MER
to assist in the development of the company in all aspects of the
business and the company's motorsports program, "Team MER",
which spent much of the 2006 season dominating the inaugural 'SCCA
Sirius Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by Hankook' Championship.
A veteran professional racer, Miller has competed for the past four
seasons in Canada's National stock car series, CASCAR (now owned by
NASCAR) as the only American pilot. Throughout his career, Marc has
been at the forefront of racing-related promotions, graphic design
and sponsorship. He will lend these and other talents to the team,
giving Team MER a renewed presence and promotional prowess. In addition,
Marc will lend his driver instruction experience to the team, serving
as lead instructor and data engineer for the team's customers.
"I'm excited to be working with an organization like Motorsport
Enterprises Racing (MER)," said Miller. " Upon discussions
with the team principals, it quickly became clear that my skills and
experience were a perfect match for them. It's not often that everything
aligns quite so well, so I look forward to a fruitful partnership."
Team
owner Shannon McMasters echoed that sentiment, adding that he's excited
about the higher level of satisfaction the team's customers will enjoy.
"Marc
brings a lot to the table with as a driver and someone with a keen
marketing sense," said McMasters. "Though he may not be
in the seat for the year, we will count on him to help elevate all
of our driver's abilities and bring more championships and race wins
to the team."
First
on the list is to establish the MER name further among the motorsports
community. The company plans to expand the range of business objectives
as well as to provide more incentives for both their prep-service
customers and racing team. MER will sport anew look and website by
middle-January and will be announcing the driver line-up for the 2007
racing season within the next few weeks.

About
Marc
Marc began racing at the age of 12 in dirt-track karting while
living in Virginia. By 14, he had progressed into Stock Car racing
and won Rookie of the Year and tallied a runner-up in final points
at two separate tracks in the Modified 4-cylinder class, racing against
drivers twice his age. After moving from Virginia to Michigan, he
focused on learning more about chassis tuning, working for a top USAC/ARCA
Midget race team. At 17, Marc jumped back into karting to keep his
skills sharp and in the ensuing years won 5 National karting championships
in three different classes. Years later he would win several races
and more championships in shifterkart racing, being ranked as one
of the top shifter road racers in North America. In 1998, he made
his first ever start in an open-wheel racecar, winning his first time
out in the Canadian Pro F1200 Championship Series. Marc claimed Rookie
of the Year and 2nd in the overall points battle with 4 poles and
5 wins. 1999 brought the move to Formula Ford and Marc picked up where
he left off, leading in his first attempt until a mechanical failure
dropped him out of the race. It only took his third race to win again
and he went on to become the Mosport Celebration Formula Ford Champion.
In
Marc's four seasons of running a limited schedule in CASCAR, he had
amasses five "top-rookie qualifying" awards and was "top
rookie" twice in 2004. In 2005, Miller had a pair of 7th place
finishes at the Toronto Molson Indy and the 300-lap event at Race
City in Calgary. Marc routinely ran in the top-6 in all three of his
events in 2006. Marc also competed in two SCCA SRF events with two
pole positions and race victories as well as going undefeated in several
karting events.
Marc currently owns a successful Marketing and Graphic Design Firm,
MMP Design, while also acting as a professional driving instructor.
He pursued a degree in Marketing and Communications from Western Michigan
University to help him be better suited as a professional race driver.
